Summary:

This new role as our Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks to support the financial operations of the company. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end closing, and supporting financial reporting and audits. This role ensures compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
• Perform monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Maintain and reconcile subsidiary ledgers such as accounts receivable and fixed assets.
• Support international subsidiary accounting activities, including intercompany transactions, accounting entries, and reconciliations.
• Support accounts receivable activities including invoicing, collection, and customer follow up.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
• Support the customer sales tax exemption process by administering exemption certificates and resolving customer issues.
• Support preparation of internal and external financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Assist with audits by providing supporting documentation and schedules.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
• Other job responsibilities as assigned.

Skills/Characteristics Needed for Success:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, but relevant practical experience will also be considered.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience; public or corporate accounting preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

The person in this position normally works in an office environment and must be able to remain stationary majority of the day behind a desk utilizing a PC and telephone. The position requires periodic trips into the plant and occasionally moving up to 20 pounds.
