Salary: $25.00 per hour

What Youll Do:

The surgery scheduler will be responsible for scheduling surgical procedures. The surgery scheduler is the primary point of contact for patients of a hospital or healthcare facility and oversees clerical functions to help the facility operate efficiently and remain on schedule.

  • Answering phone calls for patients, insurers, and other facilities.
  • Scheduling procedures with patients while maintaining an achievable schedule.
  • Explaining instructions to patients before and after procedures.
  • Gathering the necessary documentation from patients and ensuring that all required signatures are obtained prior to surgery.
  • Collecting co-pays and full payments when necessary.
  • Operating internal scheduling services and applications to provide surgical staff access to all procedures assigned to them.

What You Need For This Job:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Licensed RN with experience
  • Preferred First- Aid, CPR
  • Must reside in or near Anchorage, Alaska.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of EMR software and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, or feel and talk and hear. Ability to occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
